Behavior Vets New York

Joshua Latour KPA CTP, SDC

Behavior Consultant
Training a dog is a lot like social media - sometimes all it takes is liking and commenting on their behavior to have them become your follower. Let me help you learn to be your dog's favorite influencer!

Joshua is originally from Oregon but has chosen to call NYC home after traveling the country extensively.

Joshua began working in the pet care industry in 2009 and founded his own company Walk N’ Roll LLC in 2013. He quickly began seeking training and behavior protocols to help his clients’ dogs thrive. In 2021 he graduated from Karen Pryor Academy, becoming a KPA Certified Training Partner. That same year, he completed the Puppy Start Right Instructors Program. In 2022 he became a Certified Service Dog Coach (SDC) through Cooperative Paws and later that same year, completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course offered by Michael Shikashio. Since that time, Joshua continues to pursue excellence in the field of animal behavior through continuing education offered at conferences and seminars, reading recent research in the field, and participating in behavior consulting forums. He is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and is a Certified Professional Pet Sitter through Pet Sitters International. Joshua’s next professional development project will be participating in Dr. Susan Friedman’s course Living and Learning with Animals to hone his skills in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Beyond training, Joshua’s life goals are to become fluent in Japanese and continue his yoga teaching practice. While Joshua loves his Brooklyn home, in his free time you may find he and his family at their second home in Upstate New York, transforming their 2.5 acre property into a haven for both Josh’s dogs and his clients’ dogs, offering a retreat experience amidst the serene surroundings of a 75 acre Buddhist retreat center and a 30 acre nature preserve.

Joshua gives gratitude to Atbash, a rescued American Pit Bull Terrier whom he found stranded between the highway and the train tracks in Berkeley, California. Inspired by this fostering experience, Joshua began volunteering at a local veterinary clinic, where he was introduced to a remarkable team of animal professionals. Their inspiration fueled his passion for working with animals, setting him on the fulfilling journey of helping animals professionally which he still enjoys today.
